"Forever Captain" who turned down the commentator's offer and returned to coaching... "because this position suits you better."

KT Wiz's "Forever Captain" Park Kyung-soo (41), who returned as a leader, explained why he chose his coaching career.

"I received (a suggestion from commentators) as well," said quality control coach Park Kyung-soo, who appeared on the club's official YouTube channel "kt wiz - Wiz TV" on Sunday. "I received a lot of good treatment while I was here, and I'm very thankful for many things. If I were to go in the direction of commentating, I would feel a little bit like I'm turning a blind eye to my team's fans or my team's coaching staff," he said, explaining why he accepted the coaching position.먹튀검증

"I think it was easier to decide because all the coaches including the coach liked them, and they had friends and juniors. When I came into the coaching staff and did it together, I thought that the fans would definitely have the confidence that they saw and that they would like it. (I think) I think this position suits me better," he added.

Coach Park, who announced his retirement from the coaching staff at the end of last season and joined the coaching staff, took the professional stage by receiving the first nomination from the LG Twins in the 2003 rookie draft. Ahead of the 2015 season, he transferred to KT through an FA contract, marking a turning point in his career. Previously considered a "defensive second baseman," he has become a slugger with double-digit home runs for six consecutive seasons since moving to KT.

In 2021, he became a leading player in KT's first combined championship. Notably, he left a strong impression on both sides of offense and defense in the Korean Series against the Doosan Bears in the same year, and injured his calf while showing strong fighting spirit in the third game. After KT won the championship, Park Kyung-soo came to the ground on crutches and enjoyed the joy with his teammates, which became a memorable scene in the history of the KBO League. Park had the best moment ever when he became MVP of the Korean Series.

Park Kyung-soo's career performance is a batting average of 0.249 (1,396 hits in 5,608 at-bats), 161 home runs, 719 RBIs, 727 runs and 78 steals, with an OPS of 0.738. He, who led the team as captain for six of the 10 years (2016-2018, 2022-2024), has been given the modifier "Forever Captain."

Even after retirement, he promised his fans that he would leave as the "KT Man" forever. When he retired, he said through the club, "I am grateful to the club and its coach Lee Kang-chul for giving me the opportunity to start anew as a leader. The specific coaching position has not been decided yet, but I will meet my juniors as a leader, not an older brother or a younger brother. Just as the team coaches have done for me, I will also do my best to help my juniors show good performance as players."

Coach Park's position as QC is somewhat unfamiliar to fans. "When it comes to communicating with the players, I report to the head coach, general coach, and coach, and I receive a message and deliver it to the team again. During the season, coach Park Ki-hyuk is the main coach, so if there is anything I can assist him, I think I will join the team as an assistant," Park said.
